The Front Bottoms
What can we say about The Front Bottoms? We know we love them: a punk band that uses acoustic guitar, indie-rock dance grooves, Springsteen-y keyboard lines (this they might deny). It’s hook-filled… it’s anthemic… it’s confessional. Maybe Joni Mitchell by way of Green Day? They must have heard some Replacements along the way, and it seems like what Jonathan Richman and the Modern Lovers did for the Boston suburbs these guys are doing for Bergen County, NJ. But they still leave us scratching our heads. Just what the hell have the Front Bottoms alchemized?

Saintseneca
Last, the debut full-length from Saintseneca, is a culmination of their cultivated and tangled garland of friendship and musical ardor. Prepped by lifelong friendships rooted in the same small Appalachian town, two successful EPs and four years of anywhere-and-everywhere-we-can-stomp touring, this record is a long time coming for the Columbus band.
The band’s first studio release features subtle and purposeful experimentation, building a fullness of sound previously elusive. It is at times raucous, tender and anthemic. Intricacies aside, Last makes sure to highlight Saintseneca’s singular folk sound of laconic singalongs, speed-strummed mountain dulcimers and tambourine-filled trash cans.

Goodman Brown
Goodman Brown is a New Jersey based indie pop songwriting collective. Fronted by Luke Saenz and Peter Bistis, two recent UNH grads, and Alex Russo, a Berklee alum, their music is best characterized by their rich vocals and manic instrumental interplay over the complex and technically savvy drumming of Matt Lamastra. Having grown up on a myriad of varying influences, ranging from the Misfits to the Who, their eclectic sound truly comes together during their intensely spirited high-energy live performances, honed after years of collaboration. After performing at last year’s CMJ Music Marathon and Austin’s South by Southwest, the band has high hopes for the coming year. Following their recent graduation, the band is hard at work on new material whose subject matter focuses largely on life after college.
